Overview of Azerbaijanian 100 years National Liberation Movement.

                    The independence of South Azerbaijan and what prevents to unite one

                         Nation.

As it is known Azerbaijan has been separated for 2 centuries. According to

Gulustan in 1813 and Turkmenchay agreement in 1828 one nation had to be separated from each other by betrayal. The north of the country became the part of the Russian

Empire and the south of the country were given to the chauvinist Persian regime.

But our nation did not agree with the decision and fought for their sovereignty and independence all the time. WW1 followed by the destruction of Russian Empire created good opportunity for the liberation movement in North Azerbaijan . Azerbaijani National Government was

built up in 1918 under M.A.Rasulzadeh`s leadership. But in 1920 Russian

11^th Army occupied Azerbaijan according to Lenin’s special order.

There was founded Azerbaijani Democratic Party in 1920 in South Azerbaijan .

The leader of the party was Sh.M.Khiyabani and all the people who desired to get freedom united around him. But unfortunately, our liberation movement was cool destroyed. The great fighter Sh.M.Khiyabani was killed in 1920-09-14.

And Azerbaijani National Government was created. But we got another blow by chauvinist regime. With the help of Russian, American and English governments, they destroyed a new country in 1946 that was founded in 1945.

The Pahlavi regime committed crime in cold blood. More than 30.000 Azeri killed and more than 10.000 books in their mother language were burned.

As a result of Soviet break-up, North Azerbaijan became an independent state.

Actually, according to the population and territory, the North Azerbaijan takes just 25% of United Azerbaijan. The appointed facts show the reasons why Azerbaijan can not be united.

Strategically and geopolitically Azerbaijani territory is in very important position.

What happens in Eurasia and Middle East is connected to the interests of the central powers. As it is known, the union of separated nations and other political decisions are made far away from the regions where we live.
