It
is now only an open secret that the national movement of (Southern)
Our
latest information indicates that up to 1000 Azerbaijani participants of this
resistance have suffered injuries, even paid the ultimate price or in detention.
Naturally, we are holding the Iranian state responsible for their actions in any
loss of life, the safety of those injured and whatever inflicted on the detained.
We
are enclosing the translation of the statement issued by ASMEK together with the
source document. Also, on the top of this statement we received authentic
information from other channels of our committee on the conditions of the
injured people and express our concern about these fellow human beings. We are
listing below those who still suffer detention. We should also add that the
conditions of the injured fellows in the hospitals are extremely concerning.
Among these information items we learn about those who have been transferred
from the hospital to detention centres and subjected to tortures for a
confession. We are confident that the most effective way to ensure their safety
is only the expression of solidarity or support by international organisations.

The
Translation of the ASMEK Statement on 25 May 2006
According
to the news received from (Southern)
Salmas:
Yesterday evening,
Mr. Javad Abbasi, who was set free after suffering four months of imprisonment,
was re-arrested in Salmas. Security agents raided his home and removed all his
personal belongings, CD, books and computer.
Urmu:
Behzad Shehsavari,
a member of the Young Writers Union of Urmu, BUTA was arrested by security
agents. These arrests also include Mehdi Tereqqi and (another person with
unknown first name) Qasimli (Qasimlu). They are detained in the Detention Centre
No. 9 of security forces. Another person who is wounded and then transferred
into the detention centres includes Yashar Hashimiyan. Some of the arrested ones
are injured but they are deprived of medical treatments.

Those arrested here includes Jalal Kudurlu, Behbud Quluzade and Shahin Heseni
Merend:
More than 17 individuals were arrested in the demonstrations on Thursday
including: Eli Ojaqzade, Huseyn Elizade, Mehdi Huseyn Zadegan, Hamid Mahmudpur,
Qulamrza babai, and Mesud Hebibi Vend.

The General Judge of the
Tebriz:
While the
statement by the general judge of the revolutionary court in Tebriz was being
issued, the website Pars reported of
the crackdown in Tebriz arresting 300 individuals. Some of these arrested
peoples are in the custody of the Guard forces.
Urmu:
The Western Azerbaijani commander of security forces stated: 15 individuals of
leaders of unrest were arrested on Thursday.
The

campaigns for the release of all political prisoners and requests the groups
working on human rights to regard the fate of these individuals with due urgency.
